About Nabil

Nabil Viñas is a 2021 Cine Qua Non Lab Resident and 2019 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Screenwriting from the New York Foundation for the Arts. He wrote a short breakup-film centering friendship between men, “Come Back Hailey” (2014), which screened at several NYC Festivals and secured domestic and international distribution. An award-winning actor, his films have played the New York Film Festival, HBO’s New York Latino Film Festival, and others worldwide. He produced and acted in “Tomorrow Ever After” (2016), which screened theatrically and earned favorable mainstream reviews. With a theatre background (B.A. The City College of New York), he’s acted with companies including Labyrinth Theater, Poetic Theater, and Classical Theatre of Harlem. Born and raised in Washington Heights to parents from the Dominican Republic, Nabil spoke only Spanish until age 5. A former athlete and child of hip-hop culture, he aims to create authentic work where men of color get to be caring and vulnerable.
