About Grete

I was made in China, but born and raised in Japan. I encuntered my passport country whan I was 16 and have had Norway as my base ever since. But only as a base.
I travel a lot with my cinematographer husband Odd Hynnekleiv. We are often working on the same film, but often also on separate projects.
Ever since I bought my first 8mm camera at the age of 14 I have written, directed, edited and produced films of all shapes and sizes.
I Wrote and directed my first feature Kamilla og Tyven (Kamilla and the Thief) in 1987 for www. penelope.no
My latest feature film is "Yohan the Child Wanderer" www.yohan.no

I also sing, write songs and have written novels.
Here I sing a song I wrote and released in autumn 2015 .
I always put a story into whatever I make - also in films for teaching, in dokumentaries and informercials.

Film (Family) Director With his family struggling to survive in late1890s Norway and his father leaving on a ship for America to earn much needed money, 10-year-old Yohan devises some plans of his own to help his family. However, his jealous older brother has other ideas, and, unbeknown to their parents, he signs a contract with an agent for Yohan to become a farm laborer. Now consigned to being a child wanderer, Yohan is sent off to work on a faraway farm providing cheap labor. Yohan embarks on a long, rugged journey filled with danger, loneliness and feelings of abandonment. Along the way, he meets up with two other child wanderers, 8 year-old Anna and her younger brother. Together with other child wanderers and led by the menacing boy Aslak, the group makes its way on foot through the countryside with Yohan finally arriving at the farm where he is told to work. Film (Drama and Family) Director Orphan Kamilla moves in with her rich uncle who lives in Kristiansand, Norway in the early 1900, Norway. Her uncles wife however does not approve of Kamilla and want to send her to a boarding school in Denmark. Her uncle instead decide to send her to his sister who lives in the countryside.
