At an age when most professionals were thinking of retirement, Steven Kent Sanford decided to embark on a new professional career as a freelance composer. Leaving behind 40-plus years in diverse professional roles as an Army Officer, Electrical Engineer, Programmer, Information Technology Manager, and Project Executive, he went back to school for six years to study music, eventually attaining Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degrees in Music Composition and Film Scoring.
Steve has studied composition with William Averitt, David T. Little, Ruby Fulton, Don DiNicola, Rick Baitz, and Ravi Krishnaswami. Over this time, he has composed choral, chamber, and orchestral works, ballet scores, pop songs, and media scores for animation, films, television, and advertising.
Steve lives in Winchester, Virginia, about 75 miles west of Washington DC, and can be contacted by email at ssanford11@su.edu.
