About Marissa

Los Angeles based Director, Writer, and First Assistant Director.

I love telling compelling stories with unexpected protagonists and moments that tug on your heartstrings. Family dramas, cerebral thrillers, and anything with an authentic lead character are my preferred projects. I have a passion for creating complex roles that challenge actors and absolutely love collaborating with cast to bring performances that feel authentic and powerful.

I grew up in Iowa and return frequently. My past few films (Knee High, Next of Kin, andDomicile) were all filmed in Iowa with my favorite collaborators, DEFT Productions. I loves bringing together crews that turn into friends and keep a strict “no a******s” policy. I'm currently wrapping up post on my first feature, developing my next, and continuing my work as a 1st AD.

On a day to day basis, you can find me in the credits of television, features, and shorts as a First Assistant Director. I am not currently represented.
