About Kirsty

Hi everyone, I am a Writer from England, UK and part of the Stage 32 Lounge Crew!

Screenwriting is my passion. I love to visualise my characters on the screen (whether that be the small or big screen). In fact, the entire process - from conception of a story, right the way through to production and post-production - excites me. I also love being an audience member, watching the end result of the creative talents of others.

It didn't start with screenwriting for me, though. I started writing short stories when I was at Secondary School, as a way of channelling my energy towards creativity during a period of bullying. The first piece I wrote was inspired by a Take That song 'Another Crack in my Heart' and I received an A, so this gave me the recognition and motivation to keep going.

My interest in writing (scripts and prose) continued through College and University and, during this time, I was also able to gain experience (observational and practical) on production projects in order to learn more about creating the vision that is inspired by us writers. I have been fortunate to observe script read-through sessions and filming for BBC production The Green Green Grass, undertake work experience on The X Factor and Emmerdale, and assist with production projects at university. I also produced and directed my own mini-documentary for a final project, all about the 'Inspiration Behind the Camera' and 'Life in front of the Lens.'

Following University, I embarked upon a part-time Master of Arts course in Scriptwriting (Television & Radio), whilst working full-time as a PA to support myself financially. I continued with full-time employment and, regrettably (at the time), neglected the writing. But there was always a piece missing. A significant piece of the puzzle.

Since then, I have acknowledged that I am a writer and I have therefore been trying to develop my craft alongside full-time employment. As anyone else in the same situation knows, this can be hard. Especially, because I want to be a full-time writer, not a part-time one. This is my ultimate goal. I am hoping to connect with others on this network who share the same passion for this wonderful art of writing, Not only that, I hope to connect with others in the industry in order to learn more about the craft, about the industry, about what they do and what has brought them to this point. Everyone has a story, after all. I also hope to be inspired further and eventually achieve the dream career that I believe I have been put on this very planet to undertake.

In terms of genre, I mainly write psychological thrillers and drama scripts, but I have previously written romance and I am currently working on a mockumentary series. My taste is varied but this keeps things interesting for me.

I was formerly listed on here as 'Peggy Papas' as I was using a pseudonym for my writing; however, I have since decided to be authentic and use my actual name. Alas, Peggy can still be a nickname! In fact, Peggy continues to live on as I recently created a YouTube Podcast Channel (Two Peas in a Peggy Podcast), the link for which can be found below (along with Instagram page links). My intention for setting up this channel was to create a space where like-minded souls could come together with a shared passion of creative expression, to discuss TV episodes, films and books, and hopefully inspire others to delve deeper into the beauty and intricacies of this art.
