Charlie Marbles

I am an experienced film editor but my true love lies with script-writing and directing those scripts for screen. I have been a fan of cinema for as long as I can remember. It started by sneaking peaks at my father’s video rentals as a kid, watching Dirty Harry at ten was a typical example, but the real catalyst came after seeing Alex Cox's "Moviedrome" series on BBC2 and particularly Donald Cammell and Nicolas Roeg's "Performance” and Jean-Luc Godard’s “Weekend”. These films opened my eyes to what cinema could be and inspired me to keep notebooks to write down my own film ideas as well as to start collecting cult films on VHS - an addiction which continues to spiral out of control to this day.
Lately, I have been writing and making short films for the festival circuit as well as developing my documentary series, “Join the Dots” which is a comprehensive study of how hip hop culture hit the UK: the foundations, the impact and the evolution with indepth interviews with iconic figures and unsung heros.
