Denise Miotke hails from Berkeley, California, a city famous for liberal politics and diversity. The daughter of an OCD Vietnam War veteran dad and a tomato-farming mom, during her teen years she moved to a rural community that was NOT known for liberal politics and diversity. Denise excels in writing flawed, engaging female characters. Her scripts explore themes of found families, and underdog characters that overcome hardship with grit and kindness. Her second screenplay, VIGILANTE NANCY, was a winner in the 2021 UCLA Extension Screenwriting contest and Top 5 finalist in SIP Screenplay contest.
