An immigrant’s heritage is wound through a criminal past, seen through the eyes of  Italian/Australian detective Tony Conti. Tony’s investigation of his mother’s death, 15 years previously, leads him to a criminal sociopath that destroys the lives of the people he cherishes most.

SYNOPSIS:

Tony Conti was a 12 year old boy when he walked home from school and entered his parents bedroom to discover a man still brutally beating the dead body of his mother. He can’t remember much from that day but the nightmares return every night to haunt him. After the murder the family fell apart. His father lost his sanity from the sorrow of losing his beloved wife. Tony and his younger brother Nick were sent to an orphanage. Jack Andrews, the detective in charge of the investigation, decided to adopt Tony as his son Shane was Tony’s best friend. Custody of Nick was given to the only family member alive, Frank Conti.

15 years pass and Tony has made detective. As he follows in the footsteps of his adoptive father and brother. Its a happy and proud day for Tony and his family, but the news that Nick is dead in a drug related shooting incident changes Tony’s life forever. Carrying the guilt feelings of not looking after his young brother he decides to investigate his death. Against the warnings of Jack and Shane he tracks his brother’s past and discovers a connection between his brother’s and his mother’s death that leads him to his uncle.

Frank is a genius at covering his steps and in spite of a long life of criminal activity, most notably during the counterfeiting boom in the 70’s, the police don’t have any information on him. Tony reaches a dead end. In despair he seeks help from Ellen, a police psychologist who treated him at the academy for his nightmares. She suggests they try hypnosis to find clues in Tony’s past. Tony discovers more than he expects and he has to choose between exposing the truth and destroying on the way the most important people in his life, or betraying his dead family.
