About Tia

I have a doctorate in clinical psychology, with a specialty emphasis awarded in multicultural psychology. I have written a novel, and am working on a screenplay based on my experience in the California prison system where I worked for 16 years as a regional mental health director, a supervisor and staff psychologist. I supervised a prisoner writing program that attracted such volunteer authors as Pam Houston. My story, LIFE IN BETWEEN, published in ROVA Magazine, recounts my three-year adventure as a full-time solo RVer and writer. My short story, A DEATH BY COMMITTEE, placed as a finalist in the Mark Twain House Royal Nonesuch Humor Writing Contest. Another short story, DOING TIME, won Honorable Mention in the Women on Writing Fiction Contest. I have written countless professional pieces, and publicity and press releases for periodicals such as Poets and Writers, Navy Compass, and Writer’s Digest, and while living overseas for several years, in the Stars and Stripes.

I have professional expertise in public speaking, marketing, and social media. These skills were gained by my experience as a master trainer for the prison system, through a job as assistant marketing director at the naval base in San Diego, California, and by terms on the boards of directors for the Central Coast Writer’s Conference and SLO Nightwriters. I additionally served for two years as the Writing Contest Director for the Central Coast Writer’s Conference and one year for SLO Nightwriters. During my tenure as Director I created and managed large social media platforms, and obtained award-winning, New York Times best-selling authors for judges, including Anne Perry and Jonathan Maberry.
