John Hipwell, founder of Hipwell International Production Services (HIPS) is one of Australia’s leading film & TV producers with extensive credits on documentaries, feature films, corporate productions and international co-productions. HIPS offer collaborative, development, script writing, production & distribution services and facilities for Australian Film & TV productions and independent & official international Co-Productions. Trained at the VCA (Swinburne Campus) in film/TV production, his rites of passage were founded on the early iconic films such as “Alvin Purple”, “Snap Shot”, “Eliza Fraser” and “Mad Max”. As an executive producer, producer, director and writer/director John has completed literally hundreds of film and TV productions. He has received various film and TV awards for his documentary and feature film productions and his New Media work is collected by public institutions. John most recent credits include, the documentary “KoHoNas” (Producer) which screened on SBS TV in November 2009, Co Executive Producer on the Australian/Canadian, official, co-production, Sci Fi feature film, “Arctic Blast” (2010) and the documentary “Back to My Roots” (Producer) which screened globally on the BBC World News network in April 2010. In 2011 John Produced and Directed (with Simon Palomares) Passion To Profession a 13 part half hour TV interview series broadcast on C31 in June, July & August of 2011. In 2012/2013 john Produce the contemporary dramatic feature film "is This the Real World". In the he second half of 2013 John produced for krisfilms USA 4 x short documentaries on Austrailian wine. 2014 is look very good so far.

Is This the Real World (2015)

At home Mark is dealing with a jail-bound brother, his grandmother is fighting for her life, and a mum who's short fuse is kept doused with cask wine. His little sister is someone he wants to protect. When Mark finds his first real love he tries to escape all the forces in his life with her. But his love is with the daughter of his nemesis, the school principal. Simmering tensions boil over between the student and the teacher, between the son and his mother.

The Flying Doctors (1986)
