I was just rejected for an accreditation. Two shorts in the last year, not enough, I guess.

Does anyone know if there are alternative ways to join, e.g. day tickets open to the public?

Hi Jack, There are many kinds of badges and there are daily badges available as well. It depends on what you plan to do while attending. Do you want to watch films, do you have projects you want to pitch, do you have services you want to sell?

Thanks for sharing the article, Nick Phillips. Career Producers sounds like a great idea. Producers work hard on projects (I tried to produce two movies way back, so I know firsthand), and I think this shift will help them/their families while their projects are in production.

Hey, Chris, I saw that you're a USAF vet. Were you ever stationed down in Tucson, by chance? I used to hang out with a bunch of pilots and their wives from Davis-Montham when I worked at St. Mary's hospital in downtown Tucson. (One of the wives was a pharmacist, like me.) I also dated an intelligence officer down there...but he would never tell me anything good. Lol.

Christopher Phillips Hey, Chris, I came up with an idea. What do you think of you and I creating a sit-com called "Wings"...except instead of being set in Nantucket, we could set it in one of the places where you were stationed, like North Dakota....or even Guam! (I've never been to Guam...that could be cool.) Anyway, we could write it then pitch it to the actors who used to be on the original wings (Steven Weber and Tim Daly), and maybe they would be willing to make an appearance on the pilot episode.... sort of like how Paul Rudd did on the pilot of Party Down. Hi Fernando! I'd recommend networking with people here in the Stage 32 community. If you have an idea for a film and a script, I'd recommend putting it up in our JOBS section (top menu bar: https://www.stage32.com/find-jobs) and list the positions you'd need (paid or unpaid). People from our community can send you their profiles so you can learn more about them and see if they are a creative fit for your project. The benefit of Stage 32 over Craigslist is that you never know what you're going to get with Craigslist. Here you know everything about the people you are potentially going to work with by looking at their profile. When you start to build your team that way, usually someone knows someone who can help continue to put the puzzle pieces together to get the full production crew that you need to get your film going. If you're looking for an actual company, I'd recommend looking at digital agencies who create content for a business - they usually like to stretch their creative muscles by doing something longer-form like a short film and they will have things like camera and editor in-house or on team. Last week, I attended a webinar and spoke with Joan Lane who wrote the screenplay of The King's Speech so I am looking forward to your insights as a producer as well and had some questions. A couple questions in advance is: Can you address in your presentations from a screenwriter's perspective advice on writing style if we know we are a) not only writing for US audiences but may have them produced in other countries, and b) also if we want to give them a more international universal appeal. c) What should we consider in our writing of those scripts? d) And as many socially relevant topics are getting harder to get produced in the US due to social changes here, is it easier to have them produced in the UK who are more open to producing films or TV that tackle socially relevant issues? This is so incredibly important to understand and thank you for shining the light into the "behind the curtain" Laurie Ashbourne, as to how things are truly working. Its important to have the corporate social responsibility built in, and even more so to do what they say they will do. As you said, another will rise, and maybe a bigger and longer lasting impact can be had with those partnerships and philanthropic endeavors.

Thanks, Stephanie Moore - the "light behind the curtain" isn't always about exposing a charade (although it often is) from my perspective, I prefer to look at it as keeping us all on a path that is true to our core as compassionate human beings that come at this untethered business with integrity.
