Two years ago, I purchased Native Instruments Komplete 13. NI is now on 14 and I have barely touched all the products in Komplete though I have to admit my main interest was to enhance my samples with percussion and guitars which I have did. Now Komplete 13 is VST2 compliant and works perfectly fine with Kontakt 6 which I still use (with Sibelius).
Today I spent on what seems another good deal with Musio for $299 (I have been using Cinesamples on and off for many years now). Today could be the last day for that price - not sure. Anyhow, I may or may not be able to use those samples immediately since Musio supports VST3.
As far as I know my current version of Sibelius (v7) and the current version still do not support VST3. This is also stopping me from going to Kontakt7 which I purchased last year (with its libraries) before I realized there was a thing called VST3.
So for the time being I have purchased and wait. I have been told to check out:
https://www.xlutop.com/buzz/zip/vst3shell.zip
and
https://www.xlutop.com/buzz/zip/shell2vst.zip
which may solve the issue while I wait for Sibelius support. However, if Avid does not support VST3 for Sibelius (in Windows - Mac version already supports) in the near future, sometime in 2024, I am considering crossgrading to Dorico (which already supports VST3).
Meanwhile, I'll have samples sets already purchased from Kontakt7 and Musio ready to go.
Anyone else in a "VST bind"?
This is great, thanks @Joel!

Some things are just fun to write on paper and explore it. Many times it will just write itself and I'm as surprised as the next guy watching and listening to it unfold right before my eyes/ears. Stuff like this....and please forgive the mess and the mockup. It was just for fun playing with different interval combos. Point is...it's another tool in the toolbox. Be gentle...lol https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/199365529

Especially when you are going to record it is good to know what you are writing and for what instruments, but I have found along the way that even for electronic music or projects "in the box" it is a great thing to set up an "ensemble" for the film that is staying consistent, so that the score is more cohesive and balanced.

Thanks. It’s nothing. Just an old piece of homework actually, but it shows how you can get something from nothing by just working interval relationships and leading tones. You can go anywhere with it...

You can go anywhere with it and different interval combos will yield different vibes. Writes itself. Sure, you have to be clever, but the intervals do most of the work for you.
this is awesome Joel Irwin! I love being able to find a song in a film and stumbling across something I wouldn't have known!
