I know this may be late, but I'm feeling the fear...

So I just saw a game which is on the lad bible on fb it's disney characters in a fan-made mortal kombat rip. And I'm thinking that technology for the masses has finally caught up with my weird sense of humour, crazy inventions and warped mind. So does that mean I'm finally not ahead of my time and that means I can't shock anyone anymore. That fear is like what artists are feeling about AI art. and what parents were feeling about ipads and iphones. and what basically everybody was scared of about VR. the first and second times. thoughts?

PolyD Flynt hi PolyD! Fear is never the best thing to measure yourself by. Have you lost your abilities and imagination? No? Well then, you are okay.

The only thing to worry about is stagnating in your talent and you don’t seem the type! There is always something/someone that will shock us and perhaps make us think that we have lost ground, but we are not the epitome of talent and cleverer people exist, whichever industry we work in. Don’t worry mate, you are not alone.

There’s a whole lot of talented people on here and some of them make me look like a no hoper on my worst days and somewhat limited in my skills on the best. However, I just focus on doing what I’m doing and don’t worry about other people’s projects, because that seems to be the surest way of highjacking my own work and undermining my confidence.

Maurice Vaughan

Exactly what Geoff Hall said, PolyD Flynt.

I don't fear AI. I just think it has no business in storytelling and other forms of art. Writers don't need AI to write scripts, directors don't need AI to film movies, etc.

Geoff Hall

Maurice Vaughan well said, Maurice. For me AI in screenwriting appears to be a compensation for a lack of talent or a refusal to learn the craft.

James Hoey

I'm with you Geoff Hall and Maurice Vaughan. I have been in technology for over 35 years. I will always be the first to say that most of it has no business or purpose in writing. AI is just another chapter in that story. Writing is putting the story in your mind to paper or screen. No matter how good it is, or how bad it is, it is yours. It is original. It is your creation. Nothing in this world can ever diminish the accomplishment of writing.

Geoff Hall

James Hoey well said, James. I love your passion here. Mind you, the subject-matter will give us a lot to write about, especially if we love the dystopian genre!

PolyD Flynt

Geoff Hall Oh yeah, Geoff! Actually I was thinking bout trying to collab with someone about an old script i collabed on inspired by Tron in 2005 about a game character who gets a soul and becomes self aware, the soul was the result of an experiment by a mad scientist and a serial killer so heavily bmovie homage. But it’s also about a bad contract where two writers fall out now neither can work on the project.

But then they made free guy which was like a really poorly done kind of similar concept - on the edge of the premise.

PolyD Flynt

I wonder if I can put Free Guy in the script, there are often real movies in movies - and I could asterisk that it doesn't need it if they can't get the rights.
