As we enter November, I'm thinking a lot about the progress of the writing goals I set for this year. I had 2 major goals that I went into 2023 strongly believing I could achieve. The first was to finalize the fantasy trilogy I've been working on for the last 4 years. And the second was to finish Xtreme Saga Book 1.
Today I finished editing the third draft of the third book of the fantasy trilogy. Now, I just have to finish the formatting and the whole trilogy will be ready to query. I know I can have this completed before the end of the year. So that's 1 basically in the bag.
As for Xtreme Saga Book 1, sadly, I don't think it's gonna happen. I am extremely close to finishing the book. Based on the progress of writing it since I first started it last year, I'm almost certain I'll end the year 2 - 3 chapters shy of being finished with it. That's not bad at all, and I know I'll have it finished by the end of February. But I did really want to finish it this year. I managed to write 2.5 chapters in the last 2 weeks, when usually I don't get more than 2 chapters finished in a month. But it's also important not to rush the process. Getting it done just to get it done leads to lower quality work. As I'm not behind on the contract deadline for the novel by any means, finishing it this year is at most a vanity accomplishment rather than a required achievement.
What were/are your writing goals for this year, and what steps are you taking in these last 2 months to see them completed?
Also, you can now read Xtreme Saga chapter 6. We just published it this week. https://saga.xpg.com/novel.html
