Sanelle Sibanda

Sanelle Sibanda Producer/Director
Born in Bulawayo, a major city in Zimbabwe, Sanelle Sibanda was raised by his beloved grandmother in the midst of guerilla warfare. As a young lad, he spent his early life struggling in areas decimated by civil war. He continues to be grateful to his grandmother who protected him throughout the war by hiding him in concealed areas in the cornfields.
Prior emigrating from his native Zimbabwe, Sanelle lived in South Africa and the moved to Texas, where he earned his under graduate studies from the University of Texas in Austin. He then moved to the United Kingdom where he pursued his graduate studies.
After graduating from City University in London, Sanelle moved to San Francisco where he resurrected his skills in producing, directing, acting, and writing. Earlier in his career, Sanelle was involved in theater where he made significant accomplishments in performances, producing, directing and writing.

Sanelle has come to appreciate that a good director is the one that cares and believes in the story he’s directing and in the ability of his actors. If actors sense this in a director, they will give the best performance they possibly can. This caring commences with casting throughout production. A good director draws out actors to give their best by asking leading questions, not by telling them everything they should and should not do.

Sanelle believes directing requires a good story to tell and a cast to direct. Having or learning people skills is an important ingredient. Besides writing, producing and directing movies, Sanelle assists other producers and directors by providing coaching and mentoring services.
