About Tamra

Tamra has a journalism degree and has been a freelance writer and marketing consultant for over 25 years. She raised three children while moving 12 times in 26 years, including three years in Paris, France. Her unique life experiences inspire her to create grounded stories with universal appeal, featuring strong female and diverse characters finding their voice and their path in life.

Her work for a film industry magazine and her experience covering the Oscars in 2005 piqued her interest in screenwriting and she started taking writing classes in 2012. Her first screenplay, THE FALL, co-written with Michael Lipoma, won Slamdance, Creative World Awards, PAGE Silver and was Semifinalist (top 15%) of the Nicholl Fellowship Competition and Austin Film Festival screenwriting competition. It's now in development as in international co-production.

Her first solo feature, CHOKEPOINT, global action-thriller at sea, was 2021 Austin Film Festival Top 5 Drama. It is in development with two-time Academy Award-nominated producer, Ross Katz (Lost in Translation, in the Bedroom).

She has expanded into TV writing, with two pilots--one based on a book, the other a half-hour dramedy inspired by her own life.

Unique traits: First screenplay placed in top 15% of Nicholl Fellowship. First solo script CHOKEPOINT was 2021 Austin Film Festival Top 5 Drama.
