About Howard

Howard Guttmann is an experienced screenwriter and actor based in Austin. Howard started acting as a child in school plays and continued on the stage through high school productions and Zach Scott Theatre. During high school, Howard started pursuing opportunities in tv and film. Those translated to acting in commercials, movies, and tv shows, including four seasons on Friday Night Lights and films.

Howard has been writing for over twenty years. As a break from writing dry, academic content, he began writing fiction and then transitioned into features, documentaries, and shorts. Howard placed a feature in the 2nd round of Austin Film Festival in 2016, as well as being recognized in several short screenplay competitions. He is an active participant in several writer’s groups, and table reads.

In addition to acting and writing, Howard has worked as an editor, technical director for Austin Film Festival Summer Film Camp, production assistant for SXSW, 48 Hour Film Festival competition judge, and segment producer.

In his free time, Howard is a high school teacher and coach.
