Alex Alexander

Unique traits: Alex Alexander’s command of Graphic Design is evident in his photographic work. His interpretation comes from expanding artists’ layouts if and when it’s needed and he welcomes client input; he sees it as adding to the adventure of the creative endeavor. As opposed to most photographers, where you’re limited to visual layouts only. Alex will handle entire projects from the initial concept through to completion, including graphic design, digital manipulation, paper selection and offset print production. Biographical Information After graduating with a BS in Arts and Communication, Alex’s career began in television in Grand Rapids and Chicago. As a photographer, graphic designer and audiovisual producer he concentrated commercials and training Films before entering the world of corporate photography for Amway Corporation. Gordon Alexander Photography was created in 1980 where it excelled in fashion, editorial, lifestyle, still life and catalogue photography that continue to this day. Alex has become known for his strong sense of design. One of his major strengths is his ability to allow his subjects personality to expand into the images. Magazine commissions include American Health, Sports Illustrated, People and Life. His subjects range from sports and entertainment celebrities to political figures. His work is also showcased within numerous CD covers, book jackets and annual reports. Alex Alexander is a regular contributor to Metro Parent publication, the YMCA, United-Ways and Wellness House, Detroit Women’s Rowing Association and Detroit Visual Studios LLC. He is Memebership Chair of the Michigan Chapter of American Society of Media Photographers and was a former Artist in Residence, photography teacher and former board member of Detroit’s Children Museum. Alex resides on GrayHaven Island, a picturesque marina located on the Detroit Riverfront, which allows him to concentrate on his other passion: nature photography.
