About Art

Growing up in Maryland Art began to exhibit an interest in the arts at a very early age. Whether he wrote short stories and drew comics in school, or programmed games in QBasic at home, he was always fascinated with storytelling. When he entered middle school he took hold of the family VHS camera and began making short live action and stop-motion films with his toys, casting himself and his neighborhood friends in the various roles.

It was not until Art was cast in his high school production of "It's a Wonderful Life" that he discovered his love for theatre. He went on to appear in nearly every production at Chesapeake High until his graduation. While attending the University of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance, he appeared in many of the University's productions including "The Crucible," "SubUrbia," "Our Town," "Scapin," and "Standing on My Knees."

It was during this time at college he decided to up the ante and try his hand at a feature film. At only 20 years old he wrote, produced, starred, and directed the independent comedy The Money Shot (2005).

After moving to Los Angeles Art continued his studies at the Howard Fine Studio and later completed the 2 year Meisner program with Neighborhood Playhouse veteran William Alderson. He added to his stage work by appearing in productions by the Open Fist Theatre Company, West Coast Ensemble, the Newport Theatre Arts Center, the Gallery Theatre in Anaheim, and the First Annual LA One-Minute Play Festival. It was during the One-Minute play festival that he was cast in the leading role of Nathan for the award-winning web series Laps (2011) -- a role for which he lost 65lbs during the production.
