Giuseppe Piva is an italian director, screenwriter and producer.
Expert in cross-media communication, he graduated from Marco Bellocchio's Scuola di Alta Formazione Cinematografica.
In 2007 he participated in the seventh edition of the Joe D’Amato Horror Festival with the short film "Body Art".
2012 is the year in which he addresses the theme of violence against women in the dramatic short film "Men Rapist" written by Giosuè Cremonesi.
In 2014 Piva won the top prize in the fiction category at “La Grande Occasione” competition organized by Canon with the short film “Es” written again by Cremonesi.
In 2015 he experienced for the first time a TV series: "Nero", 6 episodes produced by Telelibertà and MyCity Studio and distributed first in streaming on Infinity TV and then on Amazon Prime Video. The series has been selected at the Rome Fiction Fest 2015 where it got 20 nominations and won 5 awards (including Best Thriller Director) at the Rome Web Awards 2016.
In 2017 Piva directed the short film “Memoria”, written by Valeria Mingolla, Laura Fusconi and Fabio Maselli, about the theme of new technologies. The protagonist is an extraordinary Nino Formicola (the famous Gaspare from “Drive-In”) together with Letizia Bravi.
In 2018 he won the call RACCONTI | Local Plus # 2 by IDM Alto Adige / Südtirol and Provincia di Bolzano for the development of the short film “The Receptionist”, which he will direct the following year. The film, which sees the superb participation of Denise Tantucci, is written by Alessio Posar and produced by Alex Pescosta.
