At a stage in life when most are comfortably settled into their crafts and careers, many are contemplating retirement… unless you happen to be a writer.

In the wake of a life-altering 2016 and the heart-wrenching loss of a dear friend to Hurricane Harvey, I made a bold move, bidding farewell to the Bayou City’s floods and embracing the rolling earthquakes and valley wildfires of Los Angeles. My motivation? To make a significant impact and unearth the path to my dream through the power of writing. For me, that dream is encapsulated in creating a modern-day cartoon that tackles diversity and inclusion from an entirely unique and meaningful perspective – precisely five different perspectives, to be precise.

Needless to say, I find myself teetering on the edge of sanity half the time. The other half, I’m invigorated by the relentless hustle around me and the flood of ideas gushing forth. Everything feels fresh and novel, which, at my age, is a peculiar and unsettling sensation. And if you happen to catch me on an unusually spirited day, you might even find me startled by the surreal realization of sharing my abode with a life-sized Duck (#DancerTheDuck) and two canine companions.

I extend my heartfelt appreciation for the guidance and support I’ve received from this exceptional group. Already, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with some remarkable individuals through Jason’s meetups.
