Larry is a passionate music and film lover who began his career in the entertainment industry, logging over 20 years in commercial broadcast radio, band management, and record production. The Long Beach, New York native attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geology, while simultaneously holding down a position as a radio announcer at WMMR Philadelphia beginning at the end of his junior year. During his 18-year tenure as a DJ there, WMMR became the #1 radio station in the nation's fourth largest market and leading rock station in the country. He received gold and platinum albums for his work with Philadelphia artists as a manager, concert promoter, and record producer. After a brief stint as a Payroll and Personnel Supervisor for the U.S. Department of Commerce, Larry transitioned into the online world in the early ‘00s, writing for WebMD and doing technical support for Napster. As a news writer for PROnetworks, a technology support site, he worked his way up to Senior Vice President for Media & Technology and Public Relations. During this period he was recruited by Microsoft and spent several years assisting in Windows development. Expanding on his passion for independent films, Larry added photography and videography to his resume and became a film festival journalist. For his own site , IndieFilmSpotlight, and others, he covered nearly 200 festivals (including more than 2000 film screenings) beginning in 2005. His presence as a social media influencer grew and his “larry411” brand is well-known in the independent film world, where his work was cited by many as helping to provide a conduit for films from festival screen to studio distribution. He moved to South Florida in October 2011. One year later he was invited to join the Programming Staff of the Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF). Larry became Operations Manager of the PBIFF in 2013 and was promoted to Artistic Director in 2014. In 2015 he became the festival's Executive Vice President and Director of Programming, which also included serving as Executive Vice President of The Palm Beaches Theatre. In May 2016, following his tremendous success with the 21st PBIFF, Larry began consulting festivals across the country. He was invited to help launch the inaugural Boynton Beach Short Film Festival and served as its Festival Coordinator through April 2017. In July 2017 he returned to helm the 2nd Annual Boynton Beach Short Film Festival as Artistic Director. He continues to serve as a creative consultant to film festivals nationwide.
