I was born in La Jolla, California, did some social column reporting during high school for her father’s newspaper, the La Jolla Light. My B.A. is from the University of California, Berkeley and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, both in anthropology. Although I have spent most of my post college years teaching college, engaging in academic grants and publications, and establishing an Environmental Studies Program, I have also been writing fiction for many years, and have taken several creative writing and screenwriting courses in-class and on-line at the Gotham Writers’ Workshop. Among the many courses I have taught are Popular Novel Writing, Mythology & Psychology, and Folklore. I have one novel published, The Marriage Season, set in India, and have completed a sci-fi thriller, “The Venus Syndrome,” which has won several screenwriting contests. I am currently working on the beat sheet and scene cards for a sci-fi feature, “The Venusian Chronicles,” and another one for a comedy, “Supermom Strikes.” Although varied in genre they all touch or focus on climate change or environmental issues.
