About Marilyn

I’m fun, funny, hard-working WGA Writer, Author & Playwright. I love to write comedies, rom coms, and even thrillers (I can kill 6 people an hour – unfortunately, not the people of my choice!) I wrote three episodes of Friday the 13th – the Series… but got my start on half hour sit coms. I’ve sold screenplays to several studios and in 2015, wrote and produced an indie feature comedy, HOW TO BEAT A BULLY. Now, to brag a bit – I won a LUMINAS Award for the Positive Depiction of Women in Film & Television from the organization Women in Film, and I was honored by the WGA as a writer of one of the 101 Best Written TV Series of the Past Seven Decades. (Murphy Brown). Some current good news: my romantic comedy feature about a wedding, COLD FEET, is set for production in 2021. I also have two plays that would make great films: AS GOOD AS GOLD – a comedy about women & gender parity in Hollywood, and a comedy about mob wives, NOT TONIGHT, VITO!

I have a few new spec features as well – a fun buddy comedy with romance, THE WEEKENDERS, and a high-concept thriller, FAREWELL TOUR, with 18-25-year-olds and music. If you need an adventure comedy that takes place in a rainforest or the bush, I’ve got BUNGLE IN THE JUNGLE, a buddy comedy about a girl, a guy and a ghost – who find something in the jungle that’s more valuable than money and more precious than gold.

In addition to my TV, film and theatre writing, I’m an award-winning author. “HOW TO LIVE LIKE A MILLIONAIRE WHEN YOU’RE A MILLION SHORT” is a personal finance book that can save you thousands of dollars and enrich your life! It was featured in Forbes and USA Weekly and won an award as the Best Book on Saving Money & Living Well of the Year.

In addition, I was the Dating, Flirting & Kissing Coach on “Extreme Makeover” and I’m the world’s only frogologist! My book, “NEVER KISS A FROG: A Girl’s Guide to Creatures from the Dating Swamp” is published in 10 languages. It would make a fantastic film or TV series, too!

My background is quite unique. I have a couple of degrees in Biology and Physiology and worked as a Biomedical Information Specialist at the National Academy of Sciences in D.C.. (Say that five-times-fast.). But I left my job to go to New York and become a star! After doing some acting and stand-up, I knew I either had to take a vacation or get a job. Let’s see, vacation or job? No contest – I headed to Los Angeles for vacay and never went back. In LA, I started writing, and that’s been my life ever since. Hope you’ll check me out
