About Michael

Michael Colleary is a screenwriter, producer, educator and consultant. He earned an MFA from UCLA film school where he won the Jack Nicholson Award and the William Morris Award for screenwriting excellence.

During this 30-year career he has worked for all major movie studios and TV networks. His produced credits include Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, the family comedy Firehouse Dog; and the TV series Unnatural History. He won a Saturn Award for co-writing the John Woo-directed action thriller Face/Off, which the New York Times deemed “one of the best 1000 movies ever made.”

Michael is a visiting instructor for the Screenwriting MFA program at UCLA where he teaches the famed 434 screenwriting workshop. UCLA also honored him with the Lew and Pamela Hunter/Jonathan and Janice Zakin Chair in Screenwriting.
Recently Michael was appointed a special “Regents’ Lecturer” at UCLA, for which he presented a program of films entitled Screenings for Screenwriters. He was subsequently asked to expand the series into a credited course, which is on the schedule for Spring, 2017. Michael is also a recurring writing mentor for the CineStory Foundation and for the Writers Guild Foundation's Writing Retreat For Veterans.

Michael is currently attached as showrunner to the TV adaptation of MGM's "Soldiers of Fortune" shooting in 2017.

Archer believes that his son's killer is his sworn enemy, a very powerful criminal, Castor Troy. One day, Archer has finally cornered Castor, however, their fight has knocked out Troy cold. As Archer finally breathes easy over the capture of his enemy, he finds out that Troy has planted a bomb that will destroy the entire city of Los Angeles and all of its inhabitants. Unfortunately the only other person who knows its location is Castor's brother Pollux, and he refuses to talk. The solution, a special operation doctor that can cut off people's faces, and can place a person's face onto another person. Archer undergoes one of those surgeries to talk to Pollux. However, Castor Troy somehow regains consciousness and now wants revenge on Archer for taking his face. Not only is Troy ruining Archer's mission, but his personal life as well.
