Richard Milleville wrote his first short story for a writing contest over five years ago. The story took into consideration his life, knowledge and experience. It stirred the emotions of nationwide judges; he won and became hooked on writing. Now, he trolls for stories from those around him because everyone has a story. He is empathetic, a good listener and cares about people. Mr. Milleville has retired from a career in business to move to the “Valley of the Sun.” He and his wife, Denise, a retired professional singer, now live in Surprise, Arizona.
He has challenged himself to improve his writing skills, first, with a singular Rio Salado writing course. Mr. Milleville has written for the online Examiner, short stories for Barnes & Noble, Nook and for an online magazine. The writing process became addictive and more writing courses have been completed. He and Denise have met life’s challenges head on with success and benefit from living in this area. It’s rich in history with a mix of cultures. The valley has strong-willed people who also faced hardship, felt the burn and grew strong.
