About Stephen

As a troubled youth, at the age of 13, Stephen Barber was forced to journal his world daily at the direction of staff while involuntarily detained in a Utah wilderness program for teens. This experience opened the door to storytelling for Stephen, and his perception of this time in his life led to his first feature BY NOBLE MEANS and garnered his first spot as a Finalist with Script Pipeline's First Look Project. Stephen's features and pilots have both been "Recommended" by The Script Lab through coverage, and he aims for representation through writing dark, character-driven drama and thrillers. He seeks to obtain a Manager and Partner to help propel his writing toward audiences of those who crave material like Severance, Ozark, and The Place Beyond the Pines.
