Adonis Ahmon Rey Morel is a native of Brooklyn, New York son of working- class parents who both migrated to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic. Adonis is a graduate from the Film/Video program at The School of Visual Arts.
Team captain of his high school varsity baseball team, Adonis also gained team building skills spending years as a board member for Brooklyn Young Filmmakers, a non-profit organization introducing teens and adults from underserved communities to the different jobs available in the film/tv industry. He also spends time volunteering with Keep Striving International. Another non-profit currently building a school in his parents’ native country of Dominican Republic.
Adonis aims to launch his non-profit by 2023 to continue holding similar events that’ll address the maternal health crisis and uplift his communities’ mental well-being.
His fourth short, Civic Mind won Best Dramatic Narrative at the New York Short Film Festival following numerous screenings including HBO’s New York Latino Film Festival, BlackStar Film Fest, and Pan African Film Festival. He's written, produced, directed, and edited all four of his shorts.
In August of 2022 he was selected as one of ten directors for Minorities In Film's 2022 Branded Lab Fellowship
Unique traits: Adonis loves all three major sports (a diehard Mets fan), live music, anything retro New York, curating community events, and Martial Arts. Today Adonis is unrepresented working as a New York based director.
