Ana Berkenhoff is a director, actress and musician. She studied applied theatre science in Gießen/D and as a guest contemporary dance at the CNSMD Lyon. With emphasis on contemporary acting/performance, directing for music theatre and choreography. During her studies she directed performances in the collective Berkenhoff/Belser/Siegwald that often dealt with sightspecific aspects and communities and staged shows, installations and films in theaters as well as in public spaces and galleries in St.Petersburg, Prag, Lyon, Berlin u.o. Beside that she directed scenic concerts and worked for radiofeatures and musical formats with Björn Deigner or Katharina Kellermann. Since her solo work of Heiner Müller Texts done with 4 directors and at hand with Laurent Chétouane became viral in 2009, it immediatly started her career as a soloartist/actress and performer specialised in voice, text, movement. She worked at city and statetheaters (HAU Berlin, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Theater Heidelberg, Gessnerallee Zürich..) with contemporary and experimental directors and authors, teamed up with artists like Andreas Liebmann, Nis-Momme Stockmann, Dominic Huber.
Recently she shows more and more own works again. And runs a sonic collaboration with Ono-records Manchester that just resolved in a new album:
