About Catherine

Hi, my name is Catherine and I am 22 years old. My playing age is between 16 and 22. I'm a bubbly individual, who takes on every challenge with great determination and focus. I am 5ft 6.5", have a slim build (dress size 6), have blonde long hair and blue eyes. I am white british and have a south east english accent and am well spoken. I learn lines quickly, take direction well and am always willing to help out in other areas of a production if needed.

I have experience acting in the theatre over the years in plays, musicals and pantomimes and have also acted as a lead in a couple of short films and was a supporting role in the independent feature film 'The Domino Effect' which can be found on IMDB. Currently, I'm rehearsing for the role of Cindy in 'The Grouch Who Couldn't Steal Christmas' and also the lead principle girl in the pantomime 'The Snow Queen' at The Hawth in Crawley. I was a main role in an advert for KFC in 2005 so have experinced being on a proffessional set for a TV commercial.
I studied drama and theatre studies as well as video production at college and received a drama scholarship at school. I am a friendly, hard working and passionate actress. Directors have said that I am a very versatile performer and am enjoyable to work with.
I have Directed plays, both adaptations of novels, modern plays and new writing. I have directed and perfomed in a devised piece of theatre in a Brechtian style. I have also performed a devised physical theatre piece which was a collaborative piece so I had an equal role in devising it.

The first production I directed was called Starseeker. I also produced this production as it was the first play to be performed under C&C Productions; a company I set up in 2014. Then, I was an assistant director for a professional production of 'The Accrington Pals' which was a brilliant opportunity. In March 2015, I directed a play in Eastbourne and have been asked back to direct their next play at the end of this year. Later this year, I directed a play at the Cockpit Theatre at the Camden Fringe in London which was a piece of epic and physical theatre that I devised around a text.

In 2008, I achieved grade 4 singing. My experience in singing is mainly in choirs and musicals. I have performed as a chorus member and lead roles in musicals and pantomimes. Last year, I was signed by the recording studio Downtown Artists in Soho, London. From this, I am in the process of writing, producing and recording two of my own songs.
I was a model in 2001 for an agency. From this I took part in 'Model of the year' in Dover and did a catwalk in the same year at The Corn Exchange in Brighton. Then, in 2004 I had a photo shoot done for the agency Re-Animator. Last year, I modelled a costume based on the witches from Macbeth which was made to fit, for a photo shoot at north brook university. This year, I did four shoots for a college project as a ballerina. Photos can be sent on request.

I work well as part of a team as well as being able to use my own initiative. I am very committed to every project I take on and will work proffessionally but always with an added sense of humour!

Unique traits: I have grade 5 tap dancing and grade 4 ballet. I also have a lot of experience doing contemporary and musical theatre dance. I have performed in a couple of dance shows with my dance school up until 2008. Now, I have performed contemporary and tap dance in a multiple of musicals and pantomimes. I have achieved grade 5 violin, grade 4 trumpet and grade 3 piano. I had cancer when I was 12 which has been a massive life experience that has had an impact on who I am today. This has helped me channel different emotions and personas over the years. In January 2014, I set up my own theatre company called 'C&C Productions'. I produced and directed it's first production; 'Starseeker'. Last year, I went on a 'West End Directing course' in London for a week where I learnt valuable skills which I was able to use in the final rehearsals of 'Starseeker' and will continue to use in future projects. I have worked both back stage and on stage, which I feel has helped me when working as a director or as another member of the crew as I can empathise with both cast and crew to help create a more fluent, understanding and cooperative process. Also, I have knowledge and experience with the technical side of theatre. I have experience as an ASM, DSM and stage manager, as well as designing and operating sound and lighting. This really helps me as a Director, especially during the 'tech run', as I know what is possible to achieve and what may be more of a challenge as well as using the right technical terminology. This also creates a quicker technical process with an understanding shared throughout. Unique Quirks - I can touch type an average of 57 words per minute and can hulla hoop continuously for 10 minutes non-stop, then I get tired.. but then I can start again!
