Based in Canberra, Australia, Craig Alexander is an award-winning actor, writer, film and theatre maker, with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Acting from Charles Sturt University.
Upon graduation he co-founded Riverina based Gearstick Theatre; which he led as Artistic Director for almost ten years, creating a multitude of productions in a variety of genres and honing his character skills with a wide array of roles - ranging from Dracula himself to Pat the Dog.
Recent stage performance credits include: Exclusion, Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol; Wolf Lullaby; and Thomas Novachek in The Street Theatre’s Venus In Fur. Recent screen performance credits include: Total Control (Blackfella Films) Dirt (Next In Line Films – "Best Actor 2017 Fleurieue Film Festival"), The Photographer (The Horse You Rode In On Media), Life (Short Poppy Productions), Victimas (O’Hallmhurain Films), several national TVC campaigns, and donning a wicked moustache to bring the story of Deano and Marty Colt to life in the hilarious Trainee Bomb Squad.
2020 also saw Craig dive into the digital theatre world with the livestreamed production of Conor Mcpherson's St Nicholas. A unique blend of cinematic and theatrical storytelling delivered during the Covid lockdown and hailed as an excellent example of a streamed theatrical experience amidst a tour de force performance.
As a filmmaker and videographer he's collaborated on several short films, captured events for organisations including The Street Theatre, The Q and the Australian War Memorial/Flowers of War, and created promotional material for various organisations throughout the region. He's currently developing several Feature projects through Screen Canberra's ScreenPod program.
Craig is also a father of four, a motorcycle enthusiast, gamer, somewhat-regular meditator, progressive callisthenics practitioner, Wing Chun Kung Fu student, not very successful organic vegetable grower, often house-husband, Connoisseur vanilla ice-cream addict and occasionally finds time to sleep...
