About David

DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY IN PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA
Hello! I’m David, a cinematographer (DP) specialized in commercial, documentary and narrative, such as the Oscars® official selection for Cambodia in 2020, “In the Life of Music".

With over 10 years’ filmmaking experience and 5+ years living in Cambodia, I help international and local media production companies, advertising agencies and directors create amazing content for the big and small screen, through high-quality visual storytelling.

My team includes skilled technicians (ACs, gaffer / grips, etc.) and one of Cambodia's top film fixers, who not only knows the country like the back of her hand, but has also vast production experience and connections which can get you pretty much (almost) anything you need, at the best possible value: permits, locations, additional crew, special equipment and more.

I come from South America and attended film school in the USA (Chapman University), therefore, most of my professional production experience has taken place in: Los Angeles, Orange County, Latin America and Cambodia. In this regard, my working method follows the so-called 'Hollywood model' combined with the practicalities of third-world film industries.

To ensure supreme technical quality on your projects, we only use the finest equipment available in the country, including Netflix-approved cameras (Alexa, FX9), high-end optics (Ultra Primes, CineAlta) and industry-standard lights (Arri, Aputure). For more information, see the 'Equipment' tab.

Last, besides my practical background, I have also been a staff member at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Beverly Hills) and Warner Bros. Records (Burbank), as well as a professor and lecturer at Universidad Central de Venezuela, the Cambodia and Busan (FLY) film commissions.

So, rest assured that I can help you shoot world-class content in Cambodia. I speak English, Khmer, Spanish and German.
