  Documentary by Dreamers2Makers Films / Kyle Sullivan - Director (Screen Door Pictures) Producer Dallas Symphony Orchestra Presents the World Premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Ellen Taaffe Zwilich’s “Remembering Ruth Bader Ginsburg" on October 7, 2021 The mini-documentary “A Song For Ruth” conveys how the late US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg inspired new music by Pulitzer Prize winning composer Ellen Taaffe Zwilich and award winning poet/librettist Lauren K. Watel. Dallas native Watel wrote the libretto for Zwilich‘s music that will have its world premiere with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra at the Meyerson Symphony Center. The featured soloists performing with the DSO are GRAMMY® Award-winning mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves and Steinway Artist® pianist Jeffrey Biegel. Mr. Biegel will be performing his own composition "Reflection of Justice: An Ode to Ruth Bader Ginsburg" for piano and orchestra. The trailblazing Chicago Opera Theater Music Director Lidiya Yankovskaya will conduct the Dallas concert. Documentarian/musician Mike Dawson says, “The Dallas Symphony Orchestra, under the leadership of Kim Noltemy, commissioned this world premiere to pay tribute to Justice Ginsburg. It’s well known that RBG loved music. In fact, RBG’s son Jim, has been CEO of the Chicago based record label, Cedille Records, for decades!” The short film shows how composers, musicians, writers, and behind the scenes powers, like the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s CEO, Kim Noltemy, became inspired by RBG. “It is our honor to bring “A Song For Ruth” mini-doc to a global audience as the world celebrates the DSO’s gift of music to Justice Ginsburg,” Dawson adds.
