About Faris
Faris Sabanija, born in Sarajevo on November 27th, 2000, is a Bosnian writer/director based in Prague, Czech Republic. He's a graduate of Prague Film School and current Prague City University student. Faris discovered his passion for filmmaking at a young age, where he began creating short experimental films and short vlogs. After relocating to Ankara, Turkey, he continued exploring his artistic pursuits at American high school in film studies class, however it was at Prague Film School where Faris further honed his skills in screenwriting and directing, earning accolades for his work. His recent diploma short film "Miserable" explored for the first time domestic abuse against men and received the "Best Actress" award at Lulea International Film Festival in Sweden, among other selections. This was when Faris realized he enjoyed making audiences aware of certain social and/or taboo topics, such as his recent short film. Currently, Faris is a screenwriter, director and university student, set to broaden his media production at Prague City University as develops his next graduation short film, set to explore forgiveness, acceptance and prejudice in his home country of Bosnia.
