About the job

I’m looking for a talented writer—either screenwriter or novelist—to collaborate with me on a deeply personal and emotional story based on true events. The story centers around a powerful, unexpected connection between two people who meet on a remote hiking trail, only to be pulled apart by circumstance, timing, and life. Over the course of thirteen years, they move through separate lives—but fate has other plans.

They reunite on the same trail, on the same day, thirteen years later. The feelings are still there, but so are the boundaries. What unfolds is a quiet, aching story of restraint, timing, and love that doesn’t demand to be acted on—only remembered.

The core of the story is fully lived, and a full treatment has already been written (happy to share upon request). What I’m looking for now is someone who can help me shape this into either a screenplay or a literary, chapter-style novel with emotional resonance—something in the realm of Before SunriseWild, or The Bridges of Madison County.

What I’m Looking For:

• A writer with a strong sense of pacing, character depth, and emotional subtlety

• Experience writing screenplays or novels (please share samples!)

• Someone who can help elevate and expand the existing treatment while honoring the heart of the story

• Open to creative liberties—we’re building from a true foundation but allowing room for emotional fiction

• Collaborative, easy to communicate with, and excited about shaping something quietly powerful

About Me:

This story is rooted in my own lived experience, and I’ve carried it with me for years. I’m not a professional writer, but I know the tone and heart of what this piece needs to be. I’m happy to stay involved creatively and co-write, or I’m also open to letting the right writer take the reins if it feels like a good fit.

If this speaks to you, I’d love to hear from you. Please include samples of your work and a few lines about why this story interests you. For payment, co-share will be negotiated.
