Born in Detroit. Lived in SE MI most of my life. Worked in the food industry, then the printing industry, then as a freelance writer/photographer, then ran a few photo studios, then a graphic design firm, did a lot of video jobs (weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, music videos, concerts...), and then started making movies.
I started at the bottom in the indie TV and film industry. PA, Boom Op, Driver, Camera Op... whatever. I would do whatever I could to be on set, and learn as much as I could while on set. I love making movies and believe this is what I was born to do.
I've worked in many capacities on set and off in the film industry. Best Boy Electric, Key Grip, Still Photographer, Art Director, Producer, Editor, Special Effects, Actor, Director, Writer, Production Manager...
I just did my first multi-million dollar budget. Since I'm not usually the money man, I had to learn how to use a spreadsheet program, learn the formulas to get the software to do the math, and do a line item budget with every character, all crew, expenses...
I have a TV show that airs on local TV in the Phoenix area. I'm the crew, in charge of camera, lighting, and sound, and I am the supervising editor, sometimes editing the whole show myself, sometimes have some help. I just hired two new editors to make my life simpler.
I always have several film projects in the works. I'll make announcements about titles as the release dates near.
I started and run Arizona Filmmaker Magazine putting the whole magazine together by myself. I have freelance writers, but I do the graphic design and create the final PDF. My business partner handles the web end.
I've been on dozens of sets in different capacities. I have about 65 projects llisted on IMDB.

Unique traits: many people specialize. I do not. I'm A.D.D., which is typical of creative people. I get bored easily and love variety. As much as I do, I still help people on low budget or student films, on occasion. I like to teach and help people succeed. I like a positive, fun atmosphere on set and don't tolerate rudeness or negativity. I'm extremely helpful, and personable, which is good on non-union sets, but can get me in trouble on big union sets. I have to remember to stick to my department. which is nice sometimes. this is supposed to be about unique traits. my unique trait is, I have a great overall knowledge of how a movie is made. I have the perspective of the director, the cinematographer, the actor, and the editor. I've done enough pre-production stuff to know how to put a pitch packet together, although it's not really my job. I like the creative stuff. that's where I belong. someone should gather the information and then let me make it look good.
