He is currently touring for his first directorial film "IMPHAL 1944" in India.
He was nominated for "Best Performance" on "King of Life", which he played a Japanese medic in a WW2 drama, at the Thurrock Film Festival 2012, in England. He is currently acting in several British feature films such as "All That Remains", "Taking Stock", "The Paradox series" and "Sheba". Junichi Kajioka was born in Japan and has acted in TV dramas, video movies, commercial theatre, dance theatre and musicals in Tokyo.
In 1995 he went to China and made his film debut in the award-winning film Devils on the Doorstep (2000), (aka "Guizi lai le"), directed by Wen Jiang while he was studying at the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing, China. In this film, he played a Japanese sergeant as well as working as a script translator, location interpreter and bilingual production assistant. He has also played various historical figures in Central Chinese Television (CCTV) drama series, such as Monk Fusho in "Jianzhen Dongdu" (2007), and Aritomo Yamagata in "Taiwan 1895" (2008) in the leading roles. He was one of the pioneer Japanese actors who went to China to study drama and to work in the Chinese Film and TV industry.
He has recently acted in the Universal Pictures' "47 Ronin" (2013), starring Keanu Reeves and Zhang Yimou's "The Flowers of War" (2012), starring Christian Bale. He also appeared in "City of Life and Death" (2009), directed by Chuan Lu and attended its premiere tour in China and Hong Kong.
He resides in London and is working in the UK, Japan and China.
