THE DIRECTOR’S POV is a 9-week course designed as a practicum to go beyond the theoretical and help a director discover and develop their unique approach to directing through a comprehensive understanding and utilization of POINT OF VIEW.
The class will be conducted as a workshop with each filmmaker expected to actively participate in the directing experience through the process of prepping, shooting and editing two assignments with the additional editing of a third.
But because this is a class for directors, all the participants will shoot the same basic short script, BREAKING UP IN THE DIGITAL AGE, and by comparing all the different versions that are possible from the same piece of material, this experience will reinforce how much a director’s individual POINT OF VIEW – their interpretation of the script and their approach to filming - will uniquely shape both the exploration and the end result of the process.
