I've tried quite a few professional networking sites but none of them leads to anywhere. I'm new here-- a friend talked me into giving this place a shot.
I'm primarily a screenwriter. With 2 shorts collecting recognition at film fests around the country and screened at Cannes, I'd like to move into features. Currently, I have a sci-fi (007 + Star Trek set in a totalitarian regime) and a crime/noir (inspired by an actual attempted assassination taking place hours before an election) that I'd like to put out there. I have a connection on the distribution end, who will be willing to help get the produced film screened at American theatres and beyond.
My day job is teaching integrative film classes (theory + practice) at a comprehensive university. My research interest revolves around film criticism, film marketing and audience psychology. My dissertation deals with how two production companies (one American/Canadian, one German) produced their biographical films of Hitler, how they marketed their controversial products and in turn, how a group of audience reacted to the production companies' marketing strategies and interpreted the films.
