About Matthew

My name is Matt. People often think I’m Iceman from the X-Men movies. I’m not. Born and raised near Woodstock, NY, I moved to Los Angeles 8 years ago to pursue my varying interests in the entertainment business. Since then, I've become a really great bartender. Initially I pursued an acting career, but after a few years I came to realize my true passion was writing, something that I've been doing since I learned to write. Maybe even before that. I'm not sure how that's possible, but it's been a while, regardless. In the past few years I have honed my skills via workshops and through working on my own material. I recently wrote a short comedy web series, which makes me the first person in Los Angeles to write a web series. I've performed at some improv schools and have recently been performing stand-up comedy throughout small venues in LA. As far as comedy goes, I find the funniest content is that which I can relate to, that is topical to my life or the world I live in, and that is universally understood among my peers. Smart, culturally referential and topical comedy is my ace in the hole. Well, that may be too cocky, but I just really wanted to use the phrase “ace in the hole”. I’m new to this site and am looking for like-minded individuals with both similar and varying perspectives on the world to collaborate on ideas and create some content.
