ACTOR CHALLENGE BY the_spotlight_presents on Instagram to memorize and perform the original monologue titled “Committed” to the best of our abilities. Script read as follows: “Bullshit. No. No, see, yeah – I may act crazy, but I’m not actually crazy, alright? I just – Okay. I grab you by the throat. I aim a gun right at you. (beat) Now, why would I do that? Probably the same reason you became a therapist. To feel like, maybe you’re not so fucked up, afterall. (beat) If I did – pull a gun, I mean – and say I were to press it against your head. (beat) I’d see it. The fear. (sarcastic, mocking). The fear of responding “inappropriately”. You would replicate the exact kind of behavior that gets people like me committed. Yet, I’m considered insane because I freeze up when people like you take a pistol loaded with pills, shove it in my face, and threaten me with normality. Now that’s psychotic.”
