A newly wed couple visit the husband's inherited childhood home for the first time. After the husband tells his wife about a mysterious family curse, things take a turn for the worst. This film is more than just a scary story. When my brother and I started to write this short we were still processing the death of our mother who we lost to cancer just months earlier, our second parent to be taken by this disease. I also had a battle with cancer just three years ago, and I’m currently in remission. With this disease being a big part of our lives, we found ourselves writing a story that touches on themes related to the personal experiences we had around our family's struggle with cancer. It really captured our fears that we could be next and this feeling of a family curse you can’t escape. It was a heavy topic to cover, but by putting it through the lens of a horror/thriller short film, the story become a way for us to process all of this grief, while still allowing us to create a film that's fun for everyone to watch. We hoped to capture and tell these life altering experiences in a symbolic, emotionally driven framework. With more and more people having to go through events similar to ours, we want them to be able to connect to the fear, helplessness, and strength our characters portray in this film.
