Topic: Solis v. Blancarte, turning the tables on talent representation. In 2013 the Labor Commission issued a decision denying attorney James Blancarte his legal fees after negotiating a lucrative agreement on behalf of his client, stating that without a Talent Agency License, the contract between attorney and client was null and void. This case is a wake up call to all who wish to represent talent, and we are pleased to have as our speaker the attorney at the center of the controversy, Mr. James Blancarte, Esq of the LA-based firm Alvarado Smith. About the group

Non-profit corporation formed to provide education and networking events to the legal and entertainment professions, students, and those interested in the field in the San Diego area. Meetings are monthly on the last Thursday of the month between 6 and 7:15 pm where we provide a guest speaker in the entertainment/sports field. We do provide MCLE credit for attorneys for most events where appropriate. Costs to SDESL members is free, other per-event fees are $5 for students, $25 for attorneys and $20 for all others, including refreshments & MCLE.
