About Munk

Located 20 miles south of Boston, Bad Stella Studios is owned by award winning composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and Berklee College of Music alumni Munk Duane.

Munk got his start in TV and Film in the early 2000's when he was signed to his first publishing contract with the Los Angeles based Heavy Hitters Music Publishing, who immediately licensed his music in hit shows like Charmed, NCIS and The Sopranos. Munk was then tapped to write for CBS Sports, for NFL and NCAA broadcasts, composing pieces for pregame, postgame and replays for the 2009-2011 seasons. His music was featured in the Super Bowl XLIV Half-Time Show and has since gone on to be licensed in hundreds of network productions and promos. Munk became "that guy in Boston" to LA and New York based music supervisors, rapidly progressing from sync placements, to writing for corporate and library creative briefs, and finally evolving into a composer of original film scores.

Munk has kept busy, despite the Pandemic's impact on the industry. Recently, he was contracted by the Bose Corporation as a composer and UX thought-partner for the innovative Bose Sleepbuds II platform, creating custom audio experiences, optimized to specifically address a variety of sleep disorder use cases.. Munk has also been contributing to composer James S. Levine's library for Extreme Music, the production music arm of Sony/ATV Music. His music also appears in the 2022 Hulu series "Pam & Tommy".

Munk Duane stays busy as a performer and recording artist. He has won the 2018 MALE PERFORMER OF THE YEAR and 2019 VIDEO OF THE YEAR in the New England Music Awards (Best in 6 States).

Munk Duane has been featured in major press including Billboard Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter and The Boston Globe.

Munk Duane is a registered ASCAP writer and publisher.
