THE SINGING TREE

LOGLINE: Set in 1942 Bavaria, a disillusioned man flees the war and squats on a rundown rubber plantation in Brazil where new atrocities befall him, including a female Nazi hunter hot on his trail and a local Indian bent on murdering him to get his family's land back.

SYNOPSIS:

Kurt Hellmann, a civilian stationmaster employed by the Nazis, has a need for salvation, not for what he did but for what he didn't do. Basically a coward who did what was right for him in a war situation, he pays the ultimate price for his sins of omission. The last image is a powerful one that ties the entire story together.
