Animation : Teens in animation by Hiram Watkins

I have two teenagers at my church who have been writing and drawing a new universe of superheros from their imagination. Now I'm a screen writer so my focus is on the story. They want to make animated movies once they have all the components in place. They have characters and drawings of the characters. I just wanted to know what advice anyone has as to which direction they should go to get started once the parameters of the story are complete?
