Cut all the back story text. and instead use the definitions about the kinds of contact to build tension. You can lower third the location if you want. and when you are using template find a way to vary them. This film is less about the abduction (from the trailer) than the coming abductions so all the back story in text is unnecessary.. I would be better covered by actual dialogue and footage from the film if you wanted to establish that. However if this is a pitch piece, than the text is understandable. A good trailer is trying to tempt the viewer in to watching the film by giving enough information, to make a decision to spend 2 hours living in the world you present
Thank you for your feedback Trinity. It's more of a pitch trailer, it's hard to get the story across to people without the intro text. If this was made the trailer would be kickass. I have had a lot of good feedback from people that quoted, they would definitely go see it, once it's made. I just need a Producer, Director and make this happen I also have the filming location.
Visually, the trailer looks great. It looks like it was edited with a decent budget. Very well done for no film school and being self taught. I agree that there's a bit too much text. Keep in mind that films are a visual medium. Even though it's a trailer, you should be able to understand the concept of the idea through visuals. How does the trailer tell the story? Who is the main protagonist in the story?
Not a bad trailer. Definitely lose the text at the start. You could cut all that exposition back to 20 - 30 seconds by using TV segment exposition, like a news clip on the abductions etc. Background established pretty quickly.
Since this is a pitch piece, Try finding footage from another film/tv show, or other and match the tone of that to the rest. then use a limited amout of text to fill in the specifics of your story. Helps the view connect with your concept and allows you to demo your idea of the tone better. FYI I used the same lens flare template in this project. https://www.stage32.com/media/1015708395849658235
