anybody have a feel on how the market for a western - true/never before told story of an iconic lawman - is these days?

Hey D.R, while I don't know how to answer this, I CAN tell you we've had two webinars relating to your questions: Developing a True Story into a film (https://www.stage32.com/webinars/Developing-a-True-Story-Into-a-Film-Acq...) and Independent Packaging and Financing: Navigating the future of the film industry in the US (https://www.stage32.com/webinars/Independent-Packing-and-Financing-Navig...). Each of these is taught by an executive currently working in the industry. Might be helpful to you.
Once QT's new western "hateful 8" is released and experiences decent box office performance, i imagine distributors will be more interested in westerns for a while.
