Anything Goes : Connecting and than Asking by Andrew Mondia

Connecting and than Asking

I love connecting with other people and then building relationships. One thing I find daunting is asking. I'd much rather help than anything. I know that if you don't ask you don't get type thing. It's a two way street really. If you give more than receive you are draining the energy flow. It's important to be do both. The other day someone I connected with emailed what I consider SPAM. We connected but have not really built a relationship here. Just a connection. If I am going to ask something I'd rather just post on forum unless I have talked with people and connected properly. Unsure what are other peoples take on this as I know there is always room for improvement especially when networking.

This is right on the nose, Andrew! Networking is all about building a relationship. There is no point in simply being virtually connected with someone you never talk to or interact with. If you aren't conversing and helping each other, it's not a valid connection.

I have seen that in today's " information overload", there is a tendency to lose focus, particularly on the face of prevalent social media. I realize that networking is not a numbers game at all. It matters whom you know-not how many you know. I agree with Shannon.
