Screenwriting : Never One Script! by Mario Leone

Never One Script!

Never bank an entire career from One script. This is a numbers game. When I hand scripts to my agent? He often responds with "What else do you have?" This is numbers game with lots of determination. Keep writing! Don't stop! You need to have an arsenal of scripts! If you're serious about this field? Then you must attack it seriously. If you horde your own work and never put it out there? It may never come to life! I lost a fellow Screenwriter this past year. He had One script and he passed away of a stroke before the script could see the light of day. Take a moment: Imagine your self on your death bed. Your scripts are standing around you. They say to you "Only you could give us life, now we must all die with you." Dramatic? I think not! While I feel sadness for my friend. I wish he had done things differently. He carried a fear that everyone would steal his work! This stopped him from sharing his work with anyone! You must drive forward despite rejection. Fail forward, learn quick, never quit — all necessary ideas for a screenwriter. Some have gotten in with One script! I'm sure of it. However, increase your odds! Understand relationships are the proverbial ladder you climb. Results are the top of the ladder! When you get a feeling like giving up? Write some more! Dare to do something mighty! I leave you with a quote for the New Year! Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
